Greensted Junior School is located in Basildon, Essex. We became an academy on the 1st September 2012, and are sponsored by Lee Chapel Primary School.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
‘Excellence for All’
To provide a happy, caring and secure environment where everyone is valued.
To create a balanced and inspiring curriculum so that every child achieves their true potential.
To nurture each child’s individuality and to inspire a love of discovery and learning together.
To provide a multi-cultural ethos where differences are acknowledged and respected within our school and local community.
The school caters for girls and boys aged between 7 – 11 years. We aim to provide the opportunity for each child to reach their full potential and to develop the skills, attitudes and knowledge to meet the challenges of a fast-changing world which is reflected in the school’s mission statement.
Pupils are encouraged and expected to reach high standards in their work, behaviour and achievements. The involvement of parents and the wider community as a source of curricular enrichment and a stimulus for extra interests is recognised, welcomed and encouraged.
The original part of the school was built in the mid 1950’s and has been much improved over the last ten years by being substantially modernised and enlarged. The school is constantly being upgraded and this summer will see an extension to the Junior school kitchen to provide us with the capacity to cook the extra meals needed by the Infant school, under the Government’s universal free school meals scheme for all KS1 children. The Academies Capital Maintenance Fund have awarded us a grant for this work, as well as another grant to replace a large area of the school roof.
The school is co-located on a large site shared with Greensted Infant & Nursery School, with whom we have good ties.
Our computing suite has 8 PCs, supplemented by a laptop trolley containing 16 laptops, which can be wheeled from room to room. The school also boasts an iPad trolley containing 30 iPads. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards making the learning process more interactive and fun.
The school has a large playing field as well as a multi use games area (known as the Greensted Stadium), and lots of large, permanent outdoor play equipment, thus making the childrens’ playground experience very enjoyable. New for September 2014 was a fantastic area outside Elm and Oak classrooms, which has an all weather surface, lots of new outdoor play equipment and has become a firm favourite with the children.
Prospective pupils and their parents are welcome to visit the school.
