BECOMING A GOVERNOR
School governors work with headteachers and teaching staff to help raise educational and social standards. They contribute to decisions that affect every aspect of school life, from budgets to redesigning the building layout and grounds, buying equipment and appointing staff. Our full Governing Body meets once or twice a term, as do the various committees.
You don’t need any special qualifications to become a school governor and are not expected to make day-to-day decisions about how the school is run. The school will give you all the support and training you need.
If you think you would like to become a governor and would like more information, please speak to an existing Governor, the Headteacher or go to the Essex County Council website at :
http://www.essex.gov.uk/Pages/Default.aspx
If you wish to write to the Chair or to the Clerk of the Governing Body this can be done via the school address, where all correspondence will be forwarded.
